Habitat for Humanity-Powhatan
This organization's purpose is to assist needy families in building and buying a home. The clients must live in Powhatan. They need to earn between $18,000 and $44,000 per family, depending on the size of the family. They must have reasonable (not perfect) credit.
Right now, Habitat for Humanity Powhatan is looking for eligible families to help towards their goal of owning a home. If you qualify, or know someone who does, pick up a brochure in Narthex. You can also see the website HERE

The house for our own parishioner:
We are ready... the block is up, the insulation and waterproofing of the block has occurred.  The decking is down. Now it’s time to start the framing! Please consider volunteering.  Show up on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m.  If you can't hammer and assist, you might decide to help with Lunch?  Since one of our own parishioners is receiving the house, we sure hope there will be plenty of volunteers!  Contact Pat Vosburg (382- 8528 or psvosburg@gmail.com), Dustin Griffith (301-2325, dpcconstructionllc@gmail.com ) or Roy Harrison (794-9432) for more information. Tiffany Vadella-Griffith is coordinating lunch, contact her at: tiffanyvadella@gmail.com.

Habitat House 2014

A Note from Kathy:
We got off to a great start on the house 2 weekends ago.  We worked from 8:00 to 5:00 and I hadn’t worked that hard in 20 years! I left feeling so happy that I still have some stamina left to move earth like we did that day.  It is SO exciting to see things beginning to come together.  My boys weren’t with me that weekend, but they were there this past Saturday.  Harrison is out of town, but the other 3 boys participated. They are so excited and cannot wait to help out some more.
I wanted to give everyone an update and let you know how excited we are to have help as we begin to build our home in Powhatan.  Fondly, Kathy Bailey

Thank you note from Kathy:
I want to thank Fr. Lewis and all the other “angels” at SJN for all of the many, many ways you are helping me and my boys. From the financial assistance to the tireless hours working on our Habitat House, the energy, time, and expense put into the fantastic meals on Saturdays to all of the wonderful donations as we begin our new life in Powhatan.  The boys and I are extremely grateful and so blessed to be showered with so much love and be part of such a beautiful parish and community.  Love truly does conquer all and I agree with Deacon Tom…”God is good…all of the time!”
Most Sincerely, Kathy Bailey
