First Friday Adoration

posted May 25, 2018, 9:59 AM by Mary Cleary   [ updated Aug 24, 2018, 8:38 AM ]

FIRST FRIDAY PRAYER AND DEVOTIONS

Every First Friday St. John Neumann Parish sets aside three hours for the community to gather for prayer and adoration before Christ present in the consecrated Host, which is exposed in a monstrance on the altar of our church.  This time of prayerful reflection calls us to a deeper devotion to the holy eucharist and a more faithful living of the Christian life

This prayer and devotions are broken into three main movements:

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Vespers:  First Friday Devotions begin at 6:00 pm with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Vespers Prayers.  As a spiritual work of mercy, during Vespers we also pray for the souls of those from our families and our parish family who have died, and for their families who will remember a special anniversary during June, such as the anniversary of their death, a wedding anniversary, or a birthday.

Silent Meditation:  Following Vespers there is time for silent meditation in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.  This time of silence provides the opportunity to become more aware of Christ’s presence in our lives and in our world and invites us to a deeper spiritual communion with him.

First Friday Prayer and Devotions are open to everyone.  Please consider joining us on the first Friday of the month, for part, or all, of this wonderful spiritual growth opportunity

Rosary and BenedictionAt 8:30 p.m. the gathered faithful pray the Rosary, followed by Night Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours and Benediction.

We are in desperate need of leaders to volunteer to help with Children's Liturgy of the Word.
We have had to discontinue (for the time being) CLoW at the 8:30 Mass.
If you are interested in being a leader, please contact Mary Cleary or Deacon Ed Schmidt at: 598-3754
