Knights of Columbus
Founded in 1882, the Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Roman Catholic fraternal service organization. Approximately 1.8 million men are members who see their mission as supporting the Pope, Bishops and Priests and defending the faith.
Father Val von Meysenbug Council 9507 was formed in 1987 at St. John Neumann parish in Powhatan. Their business meeting is held the first Sunday of each month at 7:00 PM in Fr. Val Hall.
This Council is focused on charitable works within Powhatan and surrounding areas. Fundraising activities include:
Pumpkin Patch in conjunction with the Catholic Women's Organization
Keep Christ in Christmas Cards
Friday Lenten Fish Fry Dinners
KOVAR: proceeds help people with special needs
One of the on-going charitable programs is cutting trees and donating the split wood to the elderly and needy for cooking purposes and heating their homes.
