Want a way to boost your tax savings beyond the standard deduction? If you are 70 ½ or older, you can use your IRA to make a gift to St. John Neumann and save taxes! Normally, a distribution from your IRA is taxed as ordinary income. However, federal tax law now allows you to make a distribution of up to $100,000 each year from your IRA to a qualifying charity and it is not subject to federal income tax. By making a ‘qualified charitable distribution’ from your IRA, you can give to SJN and it counts toward your IRA’s annual required minimum distribution. Transfers must be made directly from your IRA administrator to your parish. Contact your IRA administrator or your tax advisor.
