Outreach In Love

Outreach in Love is a religious education program offered for people living with intellectual and/or physical challenges. The goal of the program is to foster a spirit of community and support between the participants, their families, group homes and the church.

“The best way to show your gratitude to God and people is to accept everything with joy. A joyful heart is the normal result of a heart burning with love. Joy is prayer; joy is strength; joy is love, a net of love by which you can catch souls”. Mother Teresa, Jesus, p. 127

Outreach in Love offers opportunities for individuals with disabilities to experience God's love through peer interaction and faith-based community building, sacramental preparation, liturgical participation, and exposure to elements of the Catholic faith, including prayer, the mass, sacred Scripture, and Tradition.

Outreach in Love is sponsored by a community of seven parishes in Richmond, Chesterfield, and Powhatan (St. Edward, Epiphany, St. Augustine, St. Gabriel, St. John Neumann, St. Bridget, and Sacred Heart). We serve all ages and all abilities.

We strive to be a leader in the Richmond Diocese in Catholic religious education for individuals with disabilities; a resource for other parishes seeking to develop similar programming; and a support network for parents and families who are working to educate their children in the Catholic faith.
