An altar server is a lay assistant who supports the clergy during Mass and may be male or female. Important duties include carrying the cross and processional candles, holding the book for the celebrant when he is not at the altar, presenting the bread, wine, and water during the preparation of the gifts, assisting as the priest receives the gifts, washing the priest’s hands, and aiding the priest and deacon as needed.
Servers should be mature enough to understand their responsibilities and carry them out with reverence. They should have received First Holy Communion and ordinarily receive the Eucharist when participating in the liturgy.

Thank you for your willingness to serve. Our parish is deeply grateful for the dedication of our altar servers and their faithful service at the altar.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
